While grieving the passing of her 17-year-old dog Grandpa, KC Concepcion expressed her gratitude to her mom Sharon Cuneta for caring and welcoming her late pet into the latter’s home.
Cuneta lamented Grandpa’s death while showing a video of him weak after being hospitalized, through her Instagram page on Thursday, March 13.
In the clip, Cuneta can be heard in the background saying Grandpa underwent surgery for his gallbladder and had to be fed through a tube.
“KC’s ShihTzu, Grandpa, who had lived with us for 16 to 17 years, was hospitalized last week. When hope started to dim, we brought him home,” Megastar wrote. “Grandpa passed away early this morning.”
“It always feels like a member of your family passes when a beloved dog does because they are part of your family,” she continued.
Cuneta further described such unfortunate loss as the hardest part for a fur parent. “It is the only time your dog manages to ‘hurt’ you, and it doesn’t at all mean to.”
“Run free, dear Grampy. We will always miss and love you, our good boy,” she added.

Concepcion, through the comments section, thanked her mom whom she credited for helping her give Grandpa the “best life.”
“Thank you for helping me give Grandpa the best life, mama. I was a busy working ‘fur mom’ at the time he came into my life and didn’t have the help I needed to fully take care of him and your house came through for us,” the younger actress wrote.
Then addressing her pet dog, Concepcion continued, “Love you, Grandpa. Churro and Chica (her other pet dogs) enjoyed playing with you and will love you forever sweet, wise, strong champion boy… Until we get to play again.”
