Seventeen’s Hoshi, Woozi says single album ‘Beam’ reflects their bond

Seventeen’s new unit Hoshi x Woozi debuted as a duo with their first single album “Beam,” which displays their bond as longtime friends.
Hoshi x Woozi released “Beam” on Monday, March 10, which contains the tracks “Pinocchio (feat. So!YoON!),” “Stupid Idiot,” and its title track “96ers,” as well as its accompanying music video on the same day.
“In ‘Beam,’ a title symbolizing the light that radiates from Hoshi and Woozi, the duo encapsulates the essence of their artistry. Beaming with confidence, originality, and self-love, the two shine in any circumstance, embodying the brilliance that defines them,” Pledis Entertainment said in a press statement.
Touching on the production of the single album, Hoshi said it is a joint effort showcasing his “inseparable bond” with Woozi.
“We’ve long dreamed of working as a unit, and now that we can finally present ‘Beam’ to the world, I’m beyond excited. This album truly reflects the kind of music we want to create, so we’re planning to fully enjoy ourselves on stage,” he said.
Meanwhile, Woozi said the single album is an “honest” effort that shows his seamless working relationship with Hoshi.
“It’s an incredible experience to release a new album with my closest friend in life. We had an absolute blast working on it, and I believe that energy is what makes this album so honest and true to us,” he said.
Prior to “Beam,” Hoshi and Woozi released the single “Bring It” which is part of the Seventeen’s second studio album “Teen, Age” in 2017.
Hoshi and Woozi are dubbed as the “mastermind duo” due to their respective positions in Seventeen. The former is the main dancer, lead vocalist, and Performance Team leader, while the latter is Seventeen’s chief producer, lead vocalist, and Vocal Team leader.
Hoshi x Woozi is the latest sub-unit from Seventeen after BSS, Jeonghan x Wonwoo, Hip-Hop Team, Vocal Team, Performance Team, and SVT Leaders.
Seventeen debuted in May 2015. The group is composed of 13 members, namely, S.Coups, Jeonghan, Joshua, Jun, Hoshi, Wonwoo, Woozi, DK, Mingyu, The8, Seungkwan, Vernon, and Dino.
