Amid the anticipation for the release of the biopic “Quezon,” Karylle gave a peak into how she researched for her role as the former First Lady Aurora Quezon, as well as how she stumbled upon a series of “personal connections” to the late dame.
The actress-singer shared glimpses of her library days in Singapore where she found old photos of the former First Lady at White Cross Children’s Home, the very place where she had volunteered since she was 18.
“What an honor to be playing First Lady Aurora Quezon in [TBA Studios’ Quezon],” she began her caption. “Sharing my library day in Singapore as I did my initial research. Can you imagine my surprise as I found photos of Doña Aurora in my fave photo spot in White Cross Children’s Home where she served as an honorary president.”
“I have been a volunteer as someone from the community since my bestie [Happy’s] debut in the home when we were 18. Another photo coincidentally is where we shot spiels in my White Cross podcast episode for K’s Drama,” continued Karylle.

The “It’s Showtime” host also shared that she rediscovered a Red Cross pin she was gifted years ago, mirroring Doña Aurora’s own service in the organization.
“I also found my old Red Cross pin gifted to me many years ago after doing some volunteer work. It seemed to be meant for the first reading as Doña Aurora also served for the Red Cross,” she concluded her caption.
Karylle also included photos and videos from the cast table read, posing with Jericho Rosales who will portray her husband, former Philippine President Manuel L. Quezon.
Aside from the two, Mon Confiado and Benjamin Alves, will reprise their roles from earlier films “Heneral Luna” and “Goyo: Ang Batang Heneral.”
Confiado returns as Emilio Aguinaldo and Quezon’s political rival. Meanwhile, Alves portrays a younger Manuel L. Quezon.
Joining the ensemble are Romnick Sarmenta as Sergio Osmeña, the first Vice President of the Philippines; JC Santos as Manuel Roxas; and Cris Villanueva as the older Joven Hernando, the only fictional character in the film series.
“Quezon” is set to start filming this March, with a theatrical release date slated for later this year.
