(I was very happy when I found out. I used to get bullied a lot at school. It’s like I’ve never really been beautiful. So when I found out, I was very surprised.)

Brillantes said that sometimes she feels like her pretty face is God’s “compensation” for the hardships she faces in life.

“Siguro binigay sakin ni Lord yung ganitong mukha kasi madami akong pagdadaanan sa life. Sa mukha ko kasi na ‘to nabayaran ko ‘yung pampakain ng family ko, lahat ng ’to, nagagawa ko dahil sa face ko. So sabi niya, ’At least gawin nating maganda ’tong babaeng ‘to,’” she stated.

(Maybe the Lord gave me this face because I will go through a lot in life. It’s because of my face that I’ve paid for my family’s food; everything I’m able to do because of my face. So He said, ‘At least let’s make this girl beautiful.’)

The “Kadenang Ginto” star explained that her secret to having such a “pretty face” is her relationship with the Lord, self-love, and surrounding herself with a good environment.

“Kaya rin walang effect ‘yung top 1 sakin kasi bago nila sabihin na top 1 ako, because for me, in my eyes, top 1 na ako. Piliin mo lang mahalin ang sarili mo kahit ang hirap. Simulan niyo lang unti-unti. Hindi siya overnight. Wala naman nagrurush satin,” she said.

(That’s why being top 1 has no effect on me because before they said I was top 1. For me, in my eyes, I’m top 1. Just choose to love yourself no matter how hard it is. Just start little by little. The process is not overnight. No one is rushing us.)

Aside from Brillantes, other Filipinas who made it are Janine Gutierrez (28th), Liza Soberano (31st), Belle Mariano (52nd), Ivana Alawi (69th), Gehlee Dangca of K-pop girl group UNIS (82nd), and Aiah Arceta of P-pop girl group BINI (88th).
