Jillian Ward has opened up about her hopes to be part of a stable and long-term love team, saying she’s ready for growth in her career path.
During the media conference of her upcoming show, “My Ilonggo Girl,” on Thursday, Jan. 9, Ward was asked how she felt about the idea of her having a stable on-screen partner, considering she is being paired up with Michael Sager.
“Ako po kasi tingin ko po sa 15 years ko na rin sa industriya, I think it’s time na rin po na magkaroon ako ng leading man talaga. Ma-explore ko po kumbaga ‘yung pagiging leading lady,” she said.
(I’ve been in the industry for 15 years already. I think it’s time for me to have a leading man so I can also explore being the leading lady.)
After starring in “Abot Kamay na Pangarap,” Ward and Sager are set to reunite in “My Ilonggo Girl,” a romantic comedy that highlights Iloilo and its culture.
“My Ilonggo Girl” will explore the concept of doppelgängers as Ward takes on a challenging dual roles of Tata, a humble Ilongga from the province, and Venice, a glamorous actress. The story unfolds when Tata is thrust into Venice’s world.
“Nagulat po ako may asawa po ako sa show na ‘to, so ibang-iba po siya for me. Excited po ako na mag-grow pa. Ito po ‘yung na-eenjoy ko talaga ‘yung ganitong klaseng experience,” stated the young star.
(I was surprised that I have a husband in this show, so it’s very different for me. I’m excited to grow more. This is why I really enjoy this kind of experience.)
Aside from Ward and Sager, “My Ilonggo Girl” features Arra San Agustin, Lianne Valentin, Empoy Marquez, Teresa Loyzaga, Arlene Muhlach, Richard Quan, Andrea Del Rosario, Vince Maristela and Geo Mhanna.
“My Ilonggo Girl” premieres on GMA on Jan. 13.
