David Licauco weighed in on the “three-month rule” that couples who have recently broken up should take into consideration.

The “Pulang Araw” actor stressed that people who recently broke up should give themselves time to heal before jumping into a new relationship.

“Siguro oo. Dapat,” he said when asked by a netizen during a recent livestream. “Kasi isipin mo, kunwari ikaw, nakipaghiwalay ka, kailangan mo muna i-heal ‘yung sarili mo so that ‘yung baggages mo from the past relationship, hindi siya madadala sa next relationship mo.”

(Think about it; let’s say you broke up. You have to heal yourself first so that your baggage from the past relationship will not be brought to your next relationship.)

Licauco, who reportedly broke up with his non-showbiz girlfriend recently, underscored the importance of resolving one’s “mental, physical, emotional, and spiritual” issues first.

“Para hindi ma-encounter ‘yung mga problems before during your past relationship. Kailangan munang ayusin ang sarili,” he stated. (So that you don’t encounter the problems before during your past relationship. You need to fix yourself first.)

Licauco’s statement comes after his on-screen partner Barbie Forteza broke up with her longtime boyfriend Jak Roberto.

Licauco and Forteza have co-starred in “Heartful Cafe,” “Maria Clara at Ibarra,” “Maging Sino Ka Man,” “That Kind Love,” and “Pulang Araw.”
