Vice Ganda said his ability to connect with the masses is one of the key factors to his mainstream success while thanking his fans for supporting his Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) 2024 entry “And the Breadwinner Is…”
The actor-comedian took to his Instagram page on Tuesday, Dec. 31, to reflect on his enduring success at the box office while sharing clips of himself interacting with fans at several malls in the country.
“Maraming nagtatanong kung bakit maraming pumipila sa mga pelikula ko lalo na tuwing Pasko. Ito po ang sagot. Dahil po ako at ang masa ay may ugnayan. May relasyon,” he said.
“Nagkakaunawaan kami. Nagmamahalan. Iisa ang lenggwahe namin. Iisa ang pulso. Nagkakaintindihan. Kaya’t di namin iniiwan ang isa’t isa anuman ang mangyari,” continued Vice Ganda.
(Many people are asking why a lot of people line up at my films, especially at Christmas time. This is the answer: It is because the masses and I share a connection. We have a good relationship. We understand and love each other. We share the same language, have the same pulse, and share something deep. This is why we never leave each other no matter what happens.)
With this in mind, Vice Ganda said having the support of the public is something that cannot be exchanged for anything else, at the same time clarifying that it is an achievement that didn’t happen overnight.
“‘Yan ang karangalan na patuloy kong tinatanggap mula sa kanila noon pa man hanggang ngayon. Karangalang di lang pang isang gabi. Pangmatagalan (This is a recognition that I have always received from them then and now. This recognition doesn’t last for a single night. This is timeless),” he added.
The “It’s Showtime” host earned the support of MMFF 2024 Best Supporting Actress winner Kakki Teodoro in the comments.
Vice Ganda made his return to the annual film festival with the Jun Robles Lana-helmed “And the Breadwinner Is…” after a two-year break. The film also stars Eugene Domingo, Malou de Guzman, Jhong Hilario, Gladys Reyes, Maris Racal, Kokoy de Santos and Anthony Jennings.
One of the most-anticipated stars in the MMFF, he bagged the Special Jury Citation award and a Best Actor nomination at the festival’s Gabi ng Parangal.
