The newly released trailer for “Superman,” formerly known as “Superman: Legacy,” offers a striking glimpse into David Corenswet‘s portrayal of the iconic hero as it blends action, love, and a nostalgic film score that pays homage to Superman’s cinematic legacy.

Released on Thursday, Dec. 19, the official teaser trailer gave a fresh yet timeless take on the Man of Steel’s story, with Clark Kent (Corenswet) navigating his dual identity as he forges connections with his love interest, Lois Lane (Rachel Brosnahan), and battles powerful adversaries including Lex Luthor (Nicholas Hoult).

The trailer begins with a dramatic sequence showing comic superhero bleeding in a snowy landscape. His loyal companion, Krypto the Superdog, arrives to assist him, highlighting the bond between the hero and his pet.

The trailer features fewer dialogues but more action-packed sequences and intimate character moments while a slowed-down version of John Williams’ “Superman March” plays in the background, giving a nostalgic and contemplative tone to the film.

The trailer also introduces other superheroes, indicating a broader DC Universe integration: Green Lantern (Nathan Fillion), Hawkgirl (Isabela Merced), Mister Terrific (Edi Gathegi) and Metamorpho (Anthony Carrigan).

Overall, the trailer emphasizes Superman’s struggle to balance his duties as a superhero and his human needs and upbringing.

Directed by CEO of DC Studios James Gunn, “Superman” will fly in Philippine theaters on July 9, 2025.
