Aiko not closing the door on Jomari

/ 06:09 PM July 18, 2011

AIKO Melendez is ecstatic about her show biz comeback via ABS-CBN’s “Reputasyon.”

“My role is offbeat,” she points out. “I play the ambitious  Catherine, whose dark secret may ruin her reputation.

“I went on a diet and watched DVDs of contravida actresses. I feel a bit pressured because I have to keep the show exciting with my portrayal.”

Is she also excited about the possibility of reconciling with her ex, Jomari Yllana?

FEATURED STORIES

“I’m not closing the door on that,” Aiko says. “Jom and I are now good as friends. Medyo na-hype lang since we are both single. And marami pa ring Aiko-Jom fans na kinikilig. But right now, my priority is my career, because not everyone is given a chance to make a comeback.”

No “repeat performance” just yet for Aiko and Joms. Aiko is still busy relishing the joys of show biz being livelier the second time around.

At the taping of Tito Dolphy’s birthday special, the guest stars were worried when he stopped dancing in the middle of a number. They thought he was feeling ill. They were all relieved when the King of Comedy blurted out, “Ang haba pala ng sayaw na ito!” Bringing laughter and spreading joy are gifts Tito Dolphy was born with.

Birthday bash

Cesar Montano is throwing a birthday party for his wife, Sunshine, in their resto, Bellissimo. It should finally put to rest rumors about his wife-beating. The only “beating” comes from Buboy’s heart, which Shine has for keeps.

Ube hue

A lot of people marveled at the new home of Kris Aquino, which she showed on her show, “Kris TV.” It was designed by Ivy Almario. I found it interesting that they melted Kris’ favorite ube ice cream to get the exact hue for the walls. Kris’ home is as colorful as her personality, not to mention her love life.

‘Cute’ message

My good friend Mark Gil sent this heartwarming message via text: “Hi Dolly. Cute mo naman. Thank you. Ganda your article. Ikaw nauna sa print. I feel much better. I like what you wrote. I love you Dolly Anne. Thank you for who you are.”

I was also touched by the tweet of Vice Ganda ([email protected]) to me via [email protected]: “Thank you for being fair and just to me. I know how to appreciate kindness and pray for the evil ones. God bless you.”

Actors like Ralph (Mark’s real name) and Vice make writing worthwhile no matter how crazy show biz gets.

Another hit?

It was such a pleasant surprise to bump into Wency Cornejo at Foamy Brews (Home Depot). He gave me a jar of yummy lengua de gato from his Krazekitch bakeshop in Davao. He celebrated his birthday recently with a reunion concert with his former band, After Image. Wency’s son Zee stays with his fab lola, Mel Tiangco. He ought to churn out a new hit in the fashion of his signature song, “Habang May Buhay.”
