Regine Velasquez clapped back at a netizen who accused her of only paying attention to fans whenever she holds a concert, which led to the latter going private on social media.
Velasquez defended herself on X (formerly Twitter) after one @_MAXHIE claimed that she only loves her fans “during concert season” on Saturday, December 7.
The netizen appeared to participate in the ongoing “we listen and we don’t judge” discussion, which usually involves fans freely giving their opinions on their favorite celebrities.
This prompted the singer-actress to retort that she doesn’t “force” her fans to attend her concerts and listen to her songs.
“When did I ever ask you for something I need?? Did I ask you for money? I invite you to watch my concerts sure but I’m not forcing you [to]. I ask if you can listen to my songs which are practically free, hindi kita pinipilit. Kung ayaw mo, walang problema sakin (I’m not forcing you. If you don’t want to, I don’t have a problem with that),” she said.

Velasquez further said that the fan has “so [many] expectations” of her even if it doesn’t personally know her, noting they intended to be a fan in the first place.
“Hindi rin naman kita pinilit na hangaan ako. YOU decided to do that I didn’t ask you to. But you saying these things as if ikaw ang bumubuhay sakin, ano yun?? You have so much expectations of me, you don’t even know me personally. You just think you know me but you don’t. God bless you,” she said.
(I’m not forcing you to be a fan of me. You decided to do that. I didn’t ask you to. But seeing you say these things as if you brought me up. What is that? You have so many expectations of me. You don’t even know me personally. You just think you know me but you don’t. God bless you.)
The netizen has since set their X account to private, as of this writing.
Meanwhile, Velasquez’s husband Ogie Alcasid expressed his love to the “Dadalhin” singer in the replies.

Velasquez previously caught the attention of netizens in November after reiterating that she doesn’t want to compete with younger artists on TikTok. The video came after fans raised concerns about her billing in the promo material for the MYX Music Awards 2024.
Known for her wide vocal range, she is considered one of the most popular singers in the Philippines. Among her many awards include the Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2023 Aliw Awards and the Powerhouse Award at the 2023 Billboard Philippines Women in Music.
