Rico Blanco’s songs to be featured in ‘Liwanag sa Dilim’ musical
Ex-girlfriend Maris Racal‘s controversy aside, singer-songwriter and Rivermaya frontman Rico Blanco is reaping the benefits of his genius as his classic hits will be turned into a musical called “Liwanag sa Dilim,” scheduled for a March 2025 staging.
The musical was announced by theater production company 9Works Theatrical on its social media platforms on Wednesday, December 4.
“‘Liwanag sa Dilim,’ a new musical featuring the songs of Rico Blanco coming March 2025,” its post read.

Details on the musical’s storyline, cast and the songs to be used are yet to be revealed as of press time.
Article continues after this advertisementBlanco first became known as the chief songwriter, vocalist and guitarist of the OPM rock band Rivermaya from 1994 to 2007. He has since 2008 established himself as a solo artist and is known as one of the leading rock icons in the Philippines.

Earlier this year, Blanco released the revived version of Rivermaya’s hit song “Kisapmata,” which featured Racal in its music video, where she portrayed a telecaster.
Racal and Blanco announced their relationship in May 2021, but have since separated middle of this year. The actress was recently embroiled in a cheating mess with her “Incognito” costar and love team, Anthony Jennings, after the latter’s ex-girlfriend Jamela Villanueva made public the text conversations between them that supposedly revealed the true nature of the actors’ relationship.
