Aside from Neri Naig, an unidentified actress and “political figures” are also reportedly included in the complaints for estafa and securities violation for their endorsement of dermatological company Dermacare.
This was confirmed in a “TV Patrol” interview by legal counsel Roberto Labe, the representative of the 39 complainants who filed the lawsuit against Naig.
Labe stated that his clients were enticed to invest in the derma company because of its established endorsers. The actress and political figures involved were not immediately named.
Naig’s arraignment was reportedly moved to Jan. 9, 2025, after her camp filed a “motion to quash the warrant of arrest, withdrawal of the information, and to reopen the preliminary investigation and release custody,” as per Labe.
Naig is currently detained at the Pasay City Jail female dormitory.
Meanwhile, Naig’s September 2023 Facebook post in which she announced that she is “no longer affiliated or associated with Dermacare” resurfaced on social media amid her arrest.
“It is important for me to make this announcement to ensure transparency and avoid any misunderstandings,” she further said in the post. “I want to emphasize that any transactions or engagements made under my name by Dermacare are unauthorized and have been conducted without my consent.”
Naig’s husband, Chito Miranda, earlier defended his wife and stressed that she was just an endorser of the company. The actress’ legal team has yet to make an official statement on the matter as of this writing.
