Andrea del Rosario recounted how she met Hollywood actor Vin Diesel while vacationing in the United States, and how their friendship did not blossom due to a “rejection.”
Del Rosario spoke about this during the “Kitchen-terrogate” segment of “Lutong Bahay” where she was interviewed by show host Mikee Quintos on Wednesday, Nov. 27. In the segment, del Rosario was given the choice to either answer the questions or drink the concoction prepared for her.
“Magbigay ng pangalan ng showbiz personality na nanligaw sa inyo pero binasted ninyo (Reveal the name of a celebrity who courted you but you rejected),” Quintos said, to which Del Rosario replied, “Vin Diesel.”
Del Rosario clarified that she was just joking to avoid drinking the concoction, but then she went on to recount meeting Diesel and the “rejection” that happened between them.
“Na-meet ko siya kasi—’di ba when you go to mga bars; may lumapit sa akin mga bodyguard niya, sabi nila, ‘Hey, you know, he [Vin] wants to meet you,'” del Rosario narrated. “Sabi ko, ‘Who?’, then sabi ko okay.”
(I met him because—[when I was at a bar], his bodyguards approached me and told me, “Hey, you know, he wants to meet you.” I asked, “Who?” then I said okay.)
Del Rosario said she did not immediately go to meet Diesel and instead walked around the establishment, but the American actor’s bodyguards approached her again.
“In-invite niya kami na pumunta sa house party niya. Gano’n ko siya na-meet,” she said. ([Vin Diesel] invited us to his house party. That’s how we met.)
Quintos then asked del Rosario, “Yung rejection po, paano nangyari?” (How did the rejection happen?)
“Rejection—kasi umuwi na ako ng Philippines after that,” Del Rosario answered. (The rejection—because I already flew back to the Philippines after that.)
“So we went to his house; we went there several times, nagkaroon sila ng mga house parties, then siyempre minsan may mga kuwentuhan kami, moments-moments, ganyan. Ayon na ‘yun,” she added. “Then, kinailangan ko na umuwi sa Philippines.”
(So we went to his house; we went there several times during house parties, then we had moments when we got to talk. That’s it. Then I had to return to the Philippines.)
Meanwhile, in a September interview with broadcaster Karen Davila, del Rosario admitted that she and Diesel had communicated through e-mails “for a while” after she flew back to the Philippines.
“Unfortunately, hanggang gano’n lang talaga (that was it),” the actress quipped in the interview, laughing.
