Young artist Robledo Timido, the rapper behind the viral songs “Gusto Ko Sakin Ka Lang” (47 million streams on Spotify) and  “Mapagdamot” (29 million streams), recently shared his perspective on the current state of hip-hop, especially for newcomers like him.

Hindi sila stagnant sa isang genre lang,” he said in an interview with select members of the press.

Timido said that he wants to contribute to the industry by staying true to his unique style and voice.

“Mahanap mo talaga ‘yung purpose mo.

(You can really find your purpose. Of course I want to contribute to the music industry in a way that I’m not just an ordinary rapper or artist that you see. I want to contribute to the industry and be the one who can set the bar or standards.)

(I want to serve as a reminder to my audience that I am just being me. Whatever you think of my music, whatever my music makes you feel, I hope it’s on the good side. It adds impact to their lives or makes them feel alive.)

Timido recently released his first full album, “Salbahe,” which includes the songs “Kasunduan,” “Proseso,” “Laging Tag-ulan,” and “Kamusta,” among others.
