G-Dragon, Taeyang, and Daesung of legendary K-pop group BigBang joined forces in the single “Home Sweet Home,” revolving around the beauty of reconnection.
The pop-rock track, released on Friday, November 22, is G-Dragon’s callback to BigBang’s roots while hoping to reunite with their fans, referring to them as their home.
“The mid-tempo song explores pop-rock soundscapes, delivering a poignant message of reconnection and continuity. The record gives fans a sense of nostalgia as they sing of picking up where they left off,” G-Dragon’s agency Galaxy Corporation said in a press statement.
While displaying G-Dragon’s “identity as a solo artist,” reports from Korean media also stated that it’s also a showcase of him as the leader of BigBang.
“As pioneers of the K-pop movement, BigBang’s unmatched influence on the global rise of the genre and its modern foundation is underscored by their early success in accumulating billions of streams and chart-topping records,” Galaxy Corporation said.
After performing his singles “Untitled (2014)” and “Power,” G-Dragon was joined by Taeyang and Daesung for a special stage at the 2024 MAMA Awards’ third day on Sunday, November 24.
Aside from “Sweet Home,” the trio also sang BigBang’s classic hits “Bang Bang Bang” and “Fantastic Baby.” G-Dragon also bagged the Music Visionary of the Year award at the event.
The BigBang members made headlines in September 2024 after the rapper-songwriter and Daesung joined Taeyang for a special performance in the latter’s solo concert.
G-Dragon debuted as the leader, main rapper, and vocalist of the group in August 2006. They originally started with five members with Seungri leaving the group and the entertainment industry 13 years later. Meanwhile, T.O.P departed in May 2023.
BigBang is considered one of the biggest K-pop groups during their peak and is best known for their smash hits “Fantastic Baby,” “Bang Bang Bang,” “Bae Bae,” “Haru Haru,” and “If You,” to name a few.
