LOS ANGELES — “Hello, Love, Again” has done it again!
The record-breaking starrer of Kathryn Bernardo and Alden Richards has landed in the Top 10 of the North American box office, according to industry data analytics company Comscore, per the report of INQUIRER.net USA.
“Hello, Love, Again” is the sequel to the 2019 hit “Hello, Love, Goodbye,” and follows the love story and personal growth of Joy (Bernardo) and Ethan (Richards) in Canada five years after their emotional farewell in Hong Kong,
According to Comscore, the movie clinched the 8th spot with $2.32 million.
The film made history, having the widest North American release ever for a Filipino movie.
Leading the box office this weekend was “Red One,” a Christmas-themed action comedy starring Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, which grossed $34 million.
“Venom: The Last Dance,” which spent its first three weeks atop the domestic box office chart, slipped to second place with $7.3 million.
“The Best Christmas Pageant Ever” was third with $5.4 million Friday through Sunday at theaters in the United States and Canada.
The Hugh Grant-starring horror film “Heretic” was fourth with $5.1 million in its second weekend, followed by “The Wild Robot” with $4.3 million in its eighth weekend.
Rounding out the Top 10 domestic releases were “Smile 2” ($2.9 million), “Conclave” ($2.8 million), “Hello, Love, Again” ($2.32 million), “A Real Pain” ($2.3 million) and “Anora” ($1.8 million).
This weekend’s overall three-day box office haul was estimated at $73.6 million. The year-to-date total is $7.079 billion — down 11.1 percent from the figure at this time last year, according to Comscore.
The film’s distribution is managed by Abramorama, a company committed to promoting diverse films across the globe.
The film’s release provides a chance for cinemas in North America to embrace multicultural storytelling, appealing to audiences who crave fresh perspectives and authentic cultural narratives, said Evan Saxon, president and head of International Distribution at Abramorama.
“Hello, Love, Goodbye” was the highest-grossing Philippine film of all time in 2019 with total global earnings of P881 million, before it was surpassed early this year by “Rewind,” a movie starring show biz royalty Marian Rivera and Dingdong Dantes, with P889 million in box office sales.
