Chelsea Manalo is representing the Philippines at the Miss Universe 2024 competition, with the coronation night set to be staged live at the Arena CDMX in Mexico City on Nov. 16, Saturday night (Nov. 17, Sunday, 9 a.m., Philippine time).
The 73rd edition of the pageant will be streamed on the Miss Universe YouTube channel or on the YouTube page of Latin-based American TV channel, Telemundo. It’s also expected to air live on multiple ABS-CBN platforms, including A2Z Channel 11, Kapamilya Channel, Metro Channel, and iWantTFC.
The Miss Universe 2024 fan voting has also been extended until the coronation night. The voting site will be open until Saturday, 6 p.m. central time (Sunday, 8 a.m. in the Philippines).
Manalo, who made history as the first Filipino of Afro-American descent to represent the Philippines, will be up against 124 delegates in hopes of bringing home the country’s fifth Miss Universe crown.
During the preliminary competition, the 25-year-old beauty queen from Bulacan amazed the audience with her elaborate “Hiraya” national costume, an ensemble that bears an image of the Black Madonna, the Our Lady of Antipolo.
Manalo also channeled her inner Disney Princess after she donned an elegant ocean blue evening gown, in contrast with the slinky evening gowns that most of the candidates wore at the preliminaries. She also sported a lilac two-piece swimsuit in the swimsuit segment.
Reigning Miss Universe Sheynnis Palacios of Nicaragua is set to pass the crown to her successor at the end of the coronation night.
