Gerald Anderson marked another achievement as he ranked up to auxiliary captain of the Philippine Coast Guard Auxiliary (PCGA).
Anderson’s donning and oath-taking ceremony was held at BRP Teresa Magbanua, as seen on his Instagram Stories on Wednesday, Nov. 13.
Among those who attended the event was his actress girlfriend Julia Barretto, who sent her congratulatory greetings to the actor through her Instagram Stories as well.
“Congratulations, Captain Gerald. So proud,” she said.

As part of PCGA, Anderson has been active in extending help to those in need. Some of his efforts include joining rescue operations during Typhoon Ondoy in 2009; helping Aetas in Zambales and recovering families in Marawi; and donating medical supplies and tents at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Last August, Anderson, who is also an Army reservist, was commended by the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) and was awarded a “search and rescue medal” for assisting victims of Typhoon Carina.
This was after the actor helped rescue a family who was stranded in Barangay Sto. Domingo in Quezon City due to the floods brought by the typhoon. Anderson was also seen wading through chest- and neck-deep floodwaters while navigating a makeshift boat to rescue individuals.
Meanwhile, Anderson is set to make a TV comeback with the ABS-CBN series “Nobody.”
