Ai-Ai delas Alas reveals attempt to conceive via IVF, Gerald Sibayan’s infidelity
After Ai-Ai delas Alas confirmed her split from estranged husband Gerald Sibayan, she also revealed her initial plans to conceive through in vitro fertilization (IVF) and his alleged infidelity at some point in their marriage.
Touching on their separation, delas Alas speculated in a “Fast Talk with Boy Abunda” interview on Monday, November 11, that her plans to get pregnant through IVF might’ve played a role in the breakdown of their relationship.
“Alam naman niya bago kami magpakasal na hindi ako magkakaanak. But I really tried my best kasi meron kaming [IVF]. Kahit mahina ang eggs ko, tinatry ko mag-IVF and meron kaming tatlong embryo,” she said.
“Gerald knew that I couldn’t conceive a child before we got married. But I really tried my best. Even if my eggs were weak, I tried to conceive through IVF. We already have three embryos. I told him that when we finally have the money, I’ll have the embryo in my body so we could have a child. It might have triggered him. He didn’t want to have a child by surprise. He just didn’t tell me. But he told me that he was hurt,” she further explained.
The actress-comedienne then began to cry as she opened up about Sibayan’s infidelity in 2019, which led to her developing “trust issues.” She noted that their age difference was also a factor at the end of their marriage as well.

If I fight for and continue to stay in this relationship, I know how it will end. My dignity and self-worth will be gone. I know it will happen to me again,” she added.

When asked what she wanted to say to her estranged husband, delas Alas hoped that he would find the happiness he’s looking for and would eventually, have the children he always wanted to have.
“I hope that you’ll find the happiness you’re looking for, even though it won’t be with me. I hope you’ll have a child of your own. I wish you well because throughout our 10-year relationship — kudos to you — you were a good husband. I guess life is like that. Wherever you are, I hope you’re happy. I wish you all the happiness,” she said.
In the interview, Delas Alas did not disclose their plans to end their marriage through legal means. They, however, agreed to have a prenuptial agreement before tying the knot in December 2017.
The estranged couple has a 30-year age gap, with the “Tanging Ina” star turning 60 on November 11 while Sibayan is 30 years old.
