It seems that Claudine Barretto and Rico Yan’s family have mended their relationship for good, as the actress bonded with the late heartthrob’s mother and sister in a recent gathering.
The “Got 2 Believe” star took to her Instagram page on Thursday, November 7, to share glimpses of herself enjoying dinner with Sita and Tina, Rico’s mother and sister. They were also joined by Tina’s children.
“Thank [you] Tita Sita, @gerryytee @tinamarieyan @fran_rem @alfytueres2 @alfyy.tueres. Divine intervention [and] all is well in our souls,” she wrote.
While thanking God in her post, Barretto then promised that she would “always be there” for Rico’s family.
“[You] are truly an angel from God to remind us that you are just right beside us. Missing [you] terribly. I promise to always be there for Tita Sita [and] your whole family. Tita, Ger, Francis, of course, Cheska [and] Alfy, Bobby, and Martina #thankyoulordforeverything,” she said.
This is not the first time Barretto interacted with her ex-boyfriend’s family. The actress was previously seen with Sita in an intimate event commemorating Yan’s 20th death anniversary in March 2022.
Barretto was previously in a relationship with Rico from March 1998 to November 2021, although their split was made public after the latter’s death.
They worked together on several projects including “Got 2 Believe,” “Dahil Mahal na Mahal Kita” and “Mula Sa Puso,” to name a few.
The heartthrob died of cardiac arrest due to acute hemorrhagic pancreatitis in March 2002, while on vacation at the Dos Palmas Resort in Puerto Princesa, Palawan. He was 27 years old.
The actress addressed her relationship with Yan in a May 2024 tell-all interview, saying she protected the late matinee idol’s name as much as she could, even though both of them played a role in their split at the time.
