After the Miss Grand International pageant imposed a “lifetime ban” on him, Myanmar national director Htoo Ant Lwin seemingly hinted at proceeding to his “Plan B” which is to send a delegate to Miss Cosmo.
Miss Grand International organization earlier imposed the ban on Htoo for “lack of sportsmanship and business credibility.” This was after Htoo was seen aggressively removing the sash and crown of Myanmar bet Thae Su Nyein, who was also visibly in distress during the incident, after the coronation of winners last Oct. 25.
Htoo had also made accusations against Miss Grand International President Nawat Itsaragrisil.
Thae finished second runner-up in the pageant, but she returned her crown, explaining that it was due to her country “not getting what [it] deserves.”
Htoo spoke about his supposed “Plan B” during an interview at a recent event he attended with Thae. A clip from their interview was re-shared by Miss Cosmo Xplore, an Instagram account that follows the Vietnam-based pageant.
After apparently expressing intent to send a delegate to Miss Cosmo, Htoo noted that he will not give up for his country. He, however, did not immediately make clear if Thae will be their country’s representative should he pursue his “Plan B.”
Htoo, Thae and Miss Grand Myanmar have yet to issue an official statement on the matter as of this writing.
The 2024 Miss Grand International coronation night, held in Thailand, saw the crowning of India’s Rachel Gupta as the titleholder. Philippine bet CJ Opiaza finished as first runner-up.
Meanwhile, Miss Cosmo pageant held its inaugural staging in October, crowning Ketut Permata Juliastrid of Indonesia as its first-ever queen.
