Binibining Pilipinas Angelica Lopez has left quite an impression among the guests who attended the charity gala event of the ongoing Miss International pageant in Japan with her singing.
Not only did the Palaweña enthrall the crowd with her captivating voice; she also endeared herself to the audience even more by singing a Japanese song.
Holding her smartphone from where she read the lyrics, Lopez sang “Mira e,” a single released by the Japanese pop duo Kiroro in 1998.
The Japanese guests, as well as the other delegates, clapped in rhythm as the Filipino model and online content creator delivered her rendition of the popular ditty in a blue cocktail dress with black bow accents.
It can be recalled that reigning Miss International Andrea Rubio delivered part of her answer in Japanese in last year’s competition.
Lopez’s singing was captured on video by international pageant portal Missosology, and shared it on their platforms.
She is on a quest to post the Philippines’ seventh victory in the Japan-based international competition, now in its 62nd edition.
Six Filipino women have been crowned Miss International so far — Gemma Cruz (1964), Aurora Pijuan (1970), Melanie Marquez (1979), Precious Lara Quigaman (2005), Bea Rose Santiago (2013) and Kylie Verzosa (2016).
Filipinos may help Lopez inch closer to the crown by casting their votes online through the official Miss International mobile app. The top vote-getters from the three regional clusters will earn guaranteed spots in the Top 20.
The 2024 Miss International coronation night will be held at the Tokyo Dome City Hall in Tokyo, Japan, on Nov. 12. Seventy-one delegates are competing this year.
