The American acoustic band Act of Congress will have a series of performances on the following dates: tonight at 7 in Marilao, Bulacan; tomorrow, 6 p.m., the Podium, Ortigas Center; and September 16, 5 p.m., the Concert in the Park, Rizal Park, Manila.
Act of Congress will also have jam session with singer-songwriter Bayang Barrios and the band Kalayo on September 16 at ’70s Bistro, Quezon City.
The group’s visit is part of the American Music Abroad program of the US Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs, and the Association of American Voices.

Brit-Irish boy band
British-Irish boy band The Wanted performs tonight at the NBC Tent, Bonifacio Global City, Taguig.
The group—whose members are Max George, Nathan Sykes, Tom Parker, Jay McGuiness and Siva Kaneswaran—was formed in 2009 and released its self-titled debut album in 2010.
The album—which contained the hit singles “All Time Low,” “Heart Vacancy” and “Lose My Mind”—peaked at No. 4 in the UK chart and went platinum.
The band’s second album, “Battleground,” came out in 2011 and yielded four hit singles: “Gold Forever,” “Glad You Came,” “Lightning,” and “Warzone.”
SMB Oktoberfest
Filipino-American hip hop superstar apl.de.ap of the Grammy Award-winning group Black Eyed Peas will headline the opening of San Miguel Oktoberfest 2012 on September 28 at Aseana City, Macapagal Boulevard, Parañaque City.
Joining the event are apl’s fellow San Miguel Beer brand ambassadors Michael V., Ely Buendia, Joey “Pepe” Smith and Sam Pinto.
