A week after Liam Payne‘s tragic death, his girlfriend Kate Cassidy bared that she and the late singer-songwriter were planning to marry “within a year,” saying he even made a note that they would be “together forever.”
Cassidy penned a belated tribute to Payne on Instagram on Wednesday, October 23, revealing the One Direction member’s desire to tie the knot.
“A few weeks ago, we sat outside on a beautiful evening manifesting our lives together. I keep your note close, even though you told me not to look at it. It said, ‘Me and Kate to marry within a year/engaged & together forever 444,’” she said.
“Liam, I know we’ll be together forever, but not in the way we had planned. You’ll always be with me. I’ve gained a guardian angel,” she added.
Cassidy said she’s “shattered” after Payne’s death. “You are — because I can’t say were — my best friend, the love of my life, and everyone you touched felt just as special as I did. Your energy was contagious, lighting up every room you walked into… None of this feels real, and I can’t wrap my head around this new reality of not having you here. I’m struggling to figure out how to live in a world without you by my side,” she said.
The influencer assured the singer-songwriter that she will love him “for the rest of her life.”
Payne and Cassidy remained mum on how their relationship began, but they were first spotted together at an event in October 2022. The One Direction member previously dated Cheryl Cole, with whom he had a son, and Maya Henry.
The “Strip That Down” singer died last October 16 after falling off from a hotel balcony in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Citing an initial toxicology test, reports said he was under the influence of various drugs at the time of his death.
