Gina Pareño, who turned 77 last October 20, is happy to still be “alive and kicking,” however, she hopes that she will be given film and television projects again.
Pareño spoke about wanting to act in TV and films in a TV Patrol report, which was broadcast on Friday, October 18, while hoping that she is still remembered by the public.
“I’m still alive. Alive and kicking! I’m happy but I’m looking for the spotlight),” she said when asked about what it felt like to celebrate her 77th birthday.
When asked about her birthday wish, the screen veteran said she wants to continue acting, and hopes for more projects in the future.
“I want to be part of a movie or a television project. I want to act. I want to feel the spotlight. Maybe you can allow me to feel the spotlight and act. Allow me to be part of your projects. I hope I can act again. I hope they remember me,” she said.
Pareño also recalled her dreams of becoming a movie actress when she was young, sharing that even while playing house back then, she enjoyed imagining as if the game was real.
“I would like to be a movie actress. That’s true. When I was young, we would play house and I play act as if it’s the real thing. I feel the heat in my blood when I act,” she said.
“I feel unhappy when I don’t act in front of the lights and the camera. When I am in my room, I feel like they have forgotten me,” the veteran actress further said.
Pareño is set to appear in the 2024 Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) entry “And The Breadwinner Is…” although her role is yet to be announced.
Some of her recent appearances include “Mga Lihim ni Urduja,” “Kara Mia,” “Ikaw Lang ang Iibigin,” “Born For You,” and episodes of “Magpakailanman” and “FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano” in 2018 and 2016, respectively.
Pareño’s last film roles were “Apag” in 2022 and “Tililing” in 2021.
