Actress Bea Alonzo spent her 37th birthday by “spreading joy” to persons with disabilities (PWDs), saying that her mom’s condition inspired her about the cause.
Alonzo took to Instagram to share some video highlights from her recent visit to the Tahanang Walang Hagdan (Home with No Steps), a rehabilitation and skills training center for PWDs, as part of her birthday celebration.
The Instagram reels showed Alonzo alongside celebrity friends Kakai Bautista, Timmy Cruz, and Jeric Gonzales participating in games, conversations and performances with the PWDs.
They also provided food, groceries, appliances and other gifts for the disabled individuals.
“Spreading joy where it matters most. An early birthday celebration at Tahanang Walang Hagdan, a day filled with laughter, love, and unforgettable moments,” she began her caption.
“As you know, my mom’s condition has opened my eyes to the challenges faced by persons with disabilities. It’s a cause that resonates with me deeply. Celebrating my birthday at Tahanang Walang Hagdan didn’t just make my day special; it felt like we were able to share a slice of happiness with an incredible community,” added the actress.
Alonzo also received a birthday surprise from her “Widows’ War” family. In the video that she shared online, the actress’ cast members were captured singing happy birthday to her on the set.
Seasoned actress Jean Garcia was seen serving, lechon while Jeric Gonzales was captured playing the guitar for a performance.
Alonzo plays the role of Samantha Castillo-Palacios in “Widows’ War,” and starring opposite her is Carla Abellana, who plays her best friend Georgina Balay-Palacios.
Aside from the aforementioned, “Widows’ War” also features Tonton Gutierrez, Rita Daniela, Rafael Rosell, Benjamin Alves, Lito Pimentel, Jackie Lou Blanco, Royce Cabrera, Matthew Uy, James Graham, and more.
Last year, Alonzo admitted that she tends to feel “birthday blues” every time she knows that her birthday is coming up, as it “makes her think and inspect her life decisions.”
