“It’s Showtime” hosts Kim Chiu and Darren Espanto had unexpected visits to the hospital due to undisclosed conditions, but they shared that these were amid their preparations for their much-anticipated performance on the show’s “Magpasikat” anniversary special.
Espanto took to Instagram on Thursday night, Oct. 17, to share a photo of him giving a thumbs-up with his hand covered with bandage. The photo clearly was taken at the hospital, as it shows the word “radiology” in the background.
“Tinodo masiyado sa training (I over-exaggerated my training) for ‘Magpasikat’ 2024 [sweating emoji],” he wrote in his caption.
On X (formerly Twitter), the former “Voice Kids” winner asked his followers to pray for the noontime show’s hosts as they are all working hard for their anniversary performance.
“Waiting for my x-ray results! Ok naman po ako (I’m okay). Please continue to pray for all the hosts and the people behind ‘It’s Showtime’! We’re doing our best for y’all! Ilaban natin ‘to! (Let’s go on with this!)” said Espanto.
Meanwhile, Chiu shared a photo of her inside an ambulance with only a part of her legs showing, writing in her caption, “Magpasikat realness [shy emoji].”
In another photo, the actress-host gave a thumbs-up, showing her hand with dextrose and saying, “All good [hand praying and red heart emojis].”
Netizens took to social media to express their concern for both celebrities.
“Understandable, you want to make people happy, but when you abuse your body, mind, & heart with too much work, stress to keep up with hectic schedules, & worse, less or no sleep, your health is in danger. Health is wealth. Life is short, Kim,” said one netizen.
“Darren extra ingat, please. We’ll pray even more for everyone’s safety & protection,” added another X user.
“It’s Showtime” is set to mark its 15th year anniversary. Its “Magpasikat” segment, a talent competition honoring the audience and where the hosts and other cast members compete against one another, is part of its week-long anniversary celebration.
