First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos urged the public on Wednesday to support the local film industry, as she expressed pride in Filipino films that deserve to be showcased to the rest of the world.
“Now more than ever, it’s crucial to rally behind our local film industry. Our filmmakers are telling stories that need to be seen, not just here—but across the globe,” Araneta-Marcos said on her Facebook and Instagram accounts.
“Let’s celebrate these incredible talents, and show the world what Filipino cinema is truly made of!” she added.
She made the statements after visiting the temporary offices of the Manila International Film Festival and Film Development Council of the Philippines in Makati City.
The two bodies are awaiting the completion of their permanent home at Film Heritage Building in Intramuros, Manila which will have a cinematheque, film museum, film and media library, film storage/vaults and film scanning and restoration room. —JULIE M. AURELIO
