Janno Gibbs expressed his intent to venture into politics in 2028, revealing he has been wanting to pursue such a trajectory but that his family “does not approve.”

The actor made this declaration via his Instagram page last Oct. 3, showing an apparent poster of him with “JANNO PARA SA SENADO” stated on it.

This elicited mixed reactions from netizens—with some voicing either support or doubt, and others who merely shrugged off Gibbs’ post as a joke.

Gibbs then clarified through his Threads page on Friday, Oct. 11, “My feed post of ‘Janno sa Senado’ was not a joke. I’ve been wanting to go into politics these past few years.”

He further noted how he has been “politically active” on his social media page, and his followers can attest to it.

“Sabi nga nila ‘Puro ka reklamo, bat di ka tumakbo?!’ (They have been telling me, ‘All you do is complain. Why don’t you run for public office?!’) But my family does not approve. They are scared of the consequences,” he disclosed. “Still, I was weighing my options.”

Seemingly hinting at entering public service, he underscored, “Seeing the circus of who are running, I didn’t want to be included in a ridiculous line up. Maybe in 2028?”

Gibbs did not immediately expound on what position he might go for.

The 2025 midterm polls saw a new crop of celebrities vying for public posts for the first time, among them, Phillip Salvador, Luis Manzano, Nora Aunor, Marco Gumabao, Aljur Abrenica, and Shamcey Supsup. Meanwhile, those politicians originally from show business who are seeking reelection are Bong Revilla, Arjo Atayde and Marjorie Barretto, to name a few.
