Amid fellow celebrities running for public office in the 2025 midterm polls, Gardo Versoza posed a reminder for them by recounting the words of the late Comedy King Dolphy.
Versoza took to his Instagram page on Monday, Oct. 7, to address those who have filed their certificates of candidacy (COCs) for various positions in public service.
“Sa mga tatakbo sa 2025 lalong-lalo na ang mga artista at sports icon, dapat bang maging gabay ang sinabi ni Dolphy?” the caption says, showing a supposed quote of Dolphy speaking about his “fear” if he were to join politics.
“Kung ako ay papasok sa politika, isa lang ang ikinakatakot ko. Ito ay ang manalo, dahil pag doon na ako, baka mapahiya lang ako kasi hindi ko alam ang gagawin ko at sayang lang ang pagboto sa akin ng mga tao,” the quote card reads.
It can be recalled that Dolphy was urged to follow in the footsteps of other actors and actresses who had tried their hand at politics, but the late comedian stood firm that it was not a trajectory he would traverse.
“Walang problema sa pagtakbo. Ang problema e ano ang magagawa ko kung manalo!” Dolphy said at the time. (I have no problem with running, the problem is what I would do should I win!)
Meanwhile, among the celebrities who are vying for public positions and re-election in 2025 are Nora Aunor, Luis Manzano, Vilma Santos, Marjorie Barretto, Arjo Atayde and Marco Gumabao, among many others.
