Lovi Poe has always enjoyed writing her own stories and film concepts. But when she starred and wrote the script for the 2023 film “Seasons,” it dawned on her that she has the potential to make it as a producer.

Poe is the lead star of the upcoming sexy film “Guilty Pleasure,” which she and her husband, Hollywood film producer Monty Blencowe co-produced via her own C’est Lovi Productions together with Regal Entertainment. It tells the story of a headstrong lawyer named Alexis (Poe) who’s torn between an intern named Matthew (Jameson Blake) and the more experienced Adam (JM de Guzman).

“I remember that it started with the film ‘Seasons.’ I enjoyed being part of the process, and it felt [like we’re doing a] script with the script. And everything just came together. [I thought] that I can keep doing this,” Poe recalled during the film’s press conference.

The actress also shared that she’s interested in scriptwriting as well, noting that she’s surrounded by supportive mentors and her husband who are always willing to guide her through the process.

“There are just so many stories that I wanna tell and showcase. I want to get into scriptwriting. That’s what sparked it. And with my mentor and husband — since he also produces films abroad — so he teaches me,” she said.

Another reason why Poe was onboard in co-producing the film was how Regal has played a huge role in her career. “I’ve been a Regal baby since I started. And so, to be honest, it really is an honor to be working with Regal because they’re a very established film company,” she explained, noting how the production company extended its support throughout its production.

The actress pointed out that “Guilty Pleasure” is meant to “spark conversations” among the audience, despite its sexy theme.

“It’s the story. I remember when I read the script, it was something that it was a bit risky. It’s something that’s talked about commonly, so for myself, of course, we’re always there to entertain and make people happy,” she said. “But with this, we’re here to spark a conversation. And I’m already blown away.”

Poe also stressed that even though the film would contain a lot of sexy scenes with her leading men, there is more than what meets the eye.

“The sexiness of the film is just the tip of the iceberg. There’s so much depth in this story. And everyone did an amazing job,” she teased.

The Connie Macatuno-helmed film also stars Sarah Edwards, Dustin Yu, and Angelica Lao. It will be out in theaters on October 16.
