History was made for the Philippines at the 10th Mister Global contest when Daumier “Dom” Corilla became the first Filipino contender to win the title.
The 29-year-old model and pageant veteran bested 30 other aspirants from around the world to emerge victorious in the competition held in Bangkok, Thailand, that ended past midnight on Monday, Oct. 7. He inherited the title from the previous winner, Jason Bretfelean from India.
Spain’s Manuel Romo, another heavy favorite for the title, settled for the first runner-up spot, while Nigeria’s Favour Ogbuokiri finished as second runner up.
The two remaining delegates in the Top 5 who did not advance to the final round also received podium placements. Host delegate Patrick Pho-ngam Forstner from Thailand was third runner-up, while fan favorite Luiz Henrique Mascarenhas from Brazil was fourth runner-up.
This is Corilla’s second global competition. He previously represented the Philippines in the 20th Manhunt International search held in the Philippines in 2020, where he finished in the Top 10.
He earned his entry to the Mister Global tilt after finishing as one of the finalists in the second Mister Pilipinas Worldwide search, the male competition mounted by Miss Universe Philippines organizer Empire Philippines.
His first national tilt was the 2019 Global Asian Model Philippines contest, a competition for men and women organized by Empire Philippines. It was there where he became to country’s official delegate to the 2020 Manhunt International search.
Corilla holds a degree in Aviation Administration from Santa Monica College in California in the United States. He moved to the Philippines to explore opportunities in the modeling and entertainment industry.
His Mister Global victory sustained the impressive showing of his fellow Mister Pilipinas Worlwide delegates. Kenneth Stromsnes and Brandon Espiritu were both second runners-up in the Manhunt International and Mister Supranational contests, respectively, this year.
