‘Full monty’ guy uncovered

MARCO Morales

Actor Marco Morales gained notoriety in the biz for baring all onscreen—particularly in indie movies like “Walang Kawala” (2008) and “Heavenly Touch” (2009).

He was the first local actor to do a full-frontal nude scene in indie films.

“I have no regrets,” he said of his past risqué roles. “I’m thankful that I was noticed and that people still remember my name.”

He never had hang-ups about showing off his assets. He grew up in Sydney, Australia, where onscreen nudity is no big deal.

As he slowed down onscreen, he focused on singing. Briefly, he performed at Izakaya bar in Greenbelt, Makati.

When he arrived in Manila seven years ago, he worked as a musician-for-hire: arranging, programming and playing music for bands.

He used to be painfully shy, believe it or not. Music allowed him to emerge from his shell.

Between singing gigs, he took on another demanding part in Archie del Mundo’s “Ang Misis ni Meyor” where he plays a closeted politician.

Although the gay role requires him to engage in a steamy love scene with fellow hunk Johnron Tañada, Morales insisted that this indie drama will push him to stretch his acting muscles for a change.

“I learned a lot from my costars Marife Necesito and Angie Ferro,” he related. “They are theater-trained actors and they generously shared acting techniques with me.”

His reinvention as an actor entailed physical transformation as well. He trimmed down by going on a diet and working out regularly.
