Chloe San Jose, the girlfriend of two-time Olympic medalist Carlos Yulo, is standing by her man amid his rift with his family, saying she is ready to fight for him even if this could be misconstrued as meddling.

In an interview with Toni Gonzaga for her vlog, which was uploaded on her YouTube channel, San Jose said that her personality as a fighter has made her the natural defender for Yulo, who has remained mum despite the tirades he is receiving from his parents, as well as backlash from the public.

“I’m just really standing up [for him]. I cannot stand by and watch while they’re doing that to Caloy. For me, as someone who’s a fighter, I always think that it shouldn’t happen to him. It’s wrong,” she said. “I’m just standing up for someone I love and for what’s right. I’m just telling the truth.”

When asked why the parties didn’t just settle their family matters privately, the content creator said she and Yulo did their best to reach out to his family, an even with the help of her mother, aunt, and cousin, but all their efforts went for naught.

In a video that he previously shared on social media, Yulo claimed that his mother, who used to take care of his finances, allegedly mismanaged his funds, which eventually led to their falling out.

Confusion

What confused the couple, however, was the sudden censure that they received from Yulo’s father, Mark Andrew, saying that they were in good terms before they left for the Paris Olympics.

“Caloy has his connections sa siblings and dad niya. We were okay. I have my connection with his dad and we even saw them before we headed to Paris Olympics. He even said, ‘Oh, magmahalan kayo. Galingan sa Olympics,’ (Love one another, do well in the Olympics). So we were surprised,” San Jose said.

She further said that Yulo’s decisions in life are his own, and she does not make decisions for him.

“I never tell him what to do. Everything that’s happening in his life, it’s all him. Even with the Olympics, it’s all him,” she said.

Unbothered

When asked by Gonzaga if she’s bothered with the accusations made by netizens against her, San Jose stressed that she finds them amusing, knowing that she, too, had her fair share of struggles when she was young.

“The way they make up stories about me is so funny. This is nothing compared to all the challenges that I went through in my early teenage years, especially as this is coming from people that I don’t know,” she said.

San Jose, who previously appeared on the Sunday variety show “ASAP,” reiterated that she has no plans of entering showbiz despite appearing with Yulo on multiple occasions.
