After many showbiz personalities filed their certificates of candidacy (COC) for the 2025 elections, actor Rob Gomez expressed his hope to join the roster one day.

In an ambush interview on Thursday afternoon, Oct. 3, for the third anniversary special of “Regal Studio Presents,” Gomez shared that he looks up to his family of politicians and hopes to be like them someday.

“I would love to,” he told INQUIRER.net when asked if he’s open to running for a political seat someday. “I look up highly to my family because of what they did. Through this naman din sila diba, before show business, nag-politics. They’re great with people, obviously. That’s why they reached what they reached. I just hope to be there one day beside their names. To be worthy of my name.”

Gomez is a member of the Ejercito family. He is the son of Kate Gomez, the sister of actor-politician Gary Estrada, and cousin of musician Eric Ejercito and actor Kiko Estrada. Their family patriarch is his late grandfather, actor George Estregan.

On the political side, he is related to former President Joseph Estrada his sons, Senators Jinggoy Estrada and JV Ejercito.

The 26-year-old actor himself acknowledged that he has a way with people, which he hopes will come in handy in the future.

“I hope it will be me one day. I’m good and great with people. Besides how everybody sees me right now, so much more people love me and believe in me, I think,” he stated.

Despite coming from a family of showbiz, Gomez shared that his family doesn’t help him secure job offers, especially with acting.

“I do not think ever natulungan ako ng family ko in my job. Personally, sila ang lumapit sakin (companies). I hope it’s because of my skill and my passion for my job,” he said.

The Kapuso actor also shared that he and his family will be coming to Korea for Christmas this year as his sister got into a K-pop group, although he did not give anymore details on it.

‘“My sister is there now. She got into this K-pop group. She’s 17. They are training. Alam ko my entertainment group sila. I forgot what name. It’s by this big group rin dati boys group manager. Tapos ngayong gumagawa silang bago, girls naman. They’re all young. All of them are 17 or below. So training talaga. So I’m excited for that,” the actor shared.

Aside from his special episode for the third year of “Regal Studio Presents,” Gomez is set to star in a Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) movie this year alongside Jane de Leon and Enrique Gil. He also shared that he has one project in the works for GMA films and a series with HBO that will come out this year.

In 2023, Gomez got caught up in a controversy over a text scandal with his fellow “Magandang Dilag” co-stars Herlene Budol and Bianca Manalo.
