Kathryn Bernardo, Kaila Estrada win acting plums in the Asian Academy Creative Awards 2024

Filipino actresses Kathryn Bernardo and Kaila Estrada were among the national winners in the Asian Academy Creative Awards 2024 after they bagged the Best Actress in a Leading Role and Best Actress in a Supporting Role, respectively. 

Bernardo took home the top acting honors for her role as Philomena Angeles in the 2023 black comedy thriller film “A Very Good Girl,” while Estrada snatched her acting plum for her performance as Sylvia Lualhati in the thriller drama series “Linlang” (Deceit).

“Linlang” also won Best Drama Series, while actor JM de Guzman secured the Best Actor in a Supporting Role. 

On the other hand, TV and movie director Mae Cruz-Alviar won Best Direction for the Belle Mariano and Donny Pangilinan-led romance series “Can’t Buy Me Love.”

Kim Chiu and Paulo Avelino’s Philippine adaptation of “What’s wrong with Secretary Kim?” won Best Adaptation of an Existing Format, a collaboration by Viu and ABS-CBN.

Other ABS-CBN shows that emerged victorious are “ASAP Natin ‘To Live in Milan” for Best Music or Dance Program, while “It’s Showtime” bagged the Best General Entertainment Program award. 

Meanwhile, the following GMA Network programs and personalities also triumphed as national winners:

“iBilib”: Best Children’s Program 

“Pulang Araw”: Best Promo or Trailer  

“Reporter’s Notebook – Ipiw’s School Chair”: Best Documentary Program (One-Off) 

GMA Integrated News – “Ravaged by El Niño”: Best Documentary-Series 

GMA Integrated News – “24 Oras Best”:  News or Current Affairs Program: 

One at Heart Jessica Soho – “If Looks Could Kill”: Best Infotainment Program 

“Biyahe ni Drew: Let’s Go to Oriental Mindoro”: Best Lifestyle Program 

Dingdong Dantes (“Family Feud”): Best Entertainment Host

“Pepito Manaloto, The Story Continues”: Best Comedy Program  

“Firefly” (Angeli Atienza)” Best Screenplay 

Michael V (“Pepito Manaloto, The Story Continues”): Best Actor/Actress in a Comedy Role

Kokoy De Santos (“Your Mother’s Son”): Best Actor in a Leading Role

Best Original Production by a Streamer-Fiction: “Secret Ingredient” (Viu)

Best Feature Film: “Your Mother’s Son” (Idea First)

Best Short Form Drama: “Primetime Mother” (Sonny Calvento). 

The national winners will proceed to compete against other winners from different countries in the international round, which will be held in Singapore on Dec. 3 to 4.
