Actor and athlete Derek Ramsay says he’s ready to fall in love again after his highly publicized breakup with actress Angelica Panganiban.
“I’m ready to date again. My heart has healed. I did my crying; I just didn’t let the world see it. I prefer to be seen crying happy tears. I also refuse to talk about my love life now. Anything I say, even though it’s straight from the heart, gets me in trouble, so it’s best to just keep quiet.
“I will not get involved in a high-profile relationship ever again, maintaining which is a lot of pressure—everybody is watching you. If I’m going to be with somebody again, I wouldn’t want to share her with the whole world anymore. She’ll definitely be nonshow biz.
“She has to be athletic, someone who is probably as crazy as I am about sports. She has to be spontaneous because that’s how I live my life. I remember what my dad said, ‘The day that one is born is the day he starts dying. What defines you as a person is what you do in between.’
“I’d also like her to be simple and old-fashioned. I’m not saying that Angel (Panganiban’s nickname) doesn’t have the values that I want in a girl. There were other factors that led to our breakup.
“The girl also has to understand my work. Of course, to be fair, I have to understand what she’s going through as well. Slowly, we will learn from each other.” Marinel R. Cruz
