The professionalism and work ethic of Francine Diaz and Seth Fedelin earned the praise of filmmaker Crisanto Aquino, who is directing their first film as an onscreen pairing, “My Future You.”

Aquino spoke highly of Diaz and Fedelin’s dedication as actors during the Regal Legacy launch, saying he “adores” them for their efforts to pull off their scenes well.

“I really adore these two kasi kapag nasa set ako, nasa isang area lang sila, pinaguusapan nila ang script — nakikita ko kayong dalawa — paano siya idedeliver at aatakihin. They talk about [their] scenes. Those are the traits of professional actors. These are really professional young actors of our generation,” he said.

(I really adore these two because when I’m on the set, I see them staying in one area while talking about the script. They discuss how they would deliver and portray their roles. They talk about their scenes. Those are the traits of professional actors. These are really professional young actors of our generation.)

Touching on their off-screen support, the filmmaker said he feels giddy watching the two of them since they’ve been supportive of each other while making the film.

“They support each other. Hindi sila naghihiwalay. Kahit sa pagkain, nagsusubuan,” he said in jest. “Nagpost ako dati ng ‘FranSeth is love’ kasi nakakakilig silang panoorin as young actors.”

Diaz, for her part, consider the film as a “gift” to fans who have been waiting for a project for them. The actress also noted that it’s an honor for them to be part of a film produced by the longstanding production company.

“Considering na ito ang first movie namin onscreen, hindi namin inaakala na mapagkakatiwalaan kami ng Regal, it’s an honor. But with the excitement, konektado rin ang kaba,” said Diaz. “Pero with the help of Direk Cris and buong team, nababawasan ang takot at nabibigyan kami ng motivation. Para siyang gift [sa’min and sa fans] since 2020 pa ginawa ang script, this is the right time for us.”

(Considering that this is our first movie, we didn’t expect that Regal would trust us. It’s an honor. But with the excitement comes nervousness. With the help of Direk Cris and the whole team, the nervousness somehow goes away, and we’re motivated to do better. It’s like a gift because the script has been finished since 2020. This is the right time for us.)

Fedelin agreed with his leading lady, saying he and Diaz take their first film together seriously, and wouldn’t want to rely merely on “kilig” in pulling off their roles.

“Regalo ito [sa fans] kasi hinahanap nila kami, na sana magkaroon kami ng proyekto… Para sa’min, ginawa namin ‘to kasi gusto naming [magbigay] ng emosyon na matatandaan ng tao. Hindi lang kami gagawa ng pampakilig. Ito ‘yung craft at passion naming dalawa,” he said.

(This is our gift to the fans who have been waiting for us to have a project. For us, we did this because we wanted to create something that people would remember. We don’t want to simply make something based on kilig. This is our craft and passion.)

Aside from the leads, “My Future You” also stars Almira Muhlach, Christian Vasquez, Peewee O’Hara, Bodjie Pascua, Marcus Madrigal, Vance Larena, and Mosang. Its premiere date is yet to be announced.

Diaz and Fedelin, who will respectively star as Karen and Lex in the film, starred as a love team in the political drama “Dirty Linen” in 2023.

The actors first met on the set of the afternoon drama “Kadenang Ginto,” but they were paired with different onscreen partners at the time.
