Xyriel Manabat gave a curt and chic response to a netizen’s comment that compared her with fellow young actress Andrea Brillantes.
Manabat simply replied “agree 100%” to a comment on her Instagram post that asserted Brillantes is “much hotter than her.”
Both actresses recently starred in the mystery series “Senior High” and its sequel, “High Street.”
The “Agua Bendita” actress also responded to another comment that accused her of having undergone some surgical enhancements.
“Pangit na pangit sa sarili niya kaya daming pinagawa (She saw herself as too ugly, so she did many enhancements),” the netizen taunted her.
“Sampu ba ilong ko?” replied Manabat.
Despite the criticism, Manabat’s recently uploaded photos and videos are receiving praises.
In another Instagram Story, the 20-year-old actress shared that American singer Sabrina Carpenter had reposted her video on TikTok.
“Iiyak ako iiyak ako talaga sige [crying and happy emojis],” she wrote in her caption, showing a screenshot of Carpenter’s profile.
Manabat previously admitted in an interview that hearing comments that she was not pretty enough to be an actress made her doubt herself.
“Actually, when I started entering show biz when I was younger, even though I had plenty of shows, I never gave (myself) that confidence or appreciation that I deserve,” she expressed at the time.
“As a child, laging tumatak sa akin or laging comment sa akin, like I would always hear this from my co-workers or from my family, is that ‘You are a good actress but you are not beautiful.’” added the former child star.
Manabat underscored that receiving such comments was one of the reasons why she took a long hiatus from show biz and went into depression at age 12.
However, as she matured, the Kapamilya star explained that she realized that the perception of beauty varies from person to person.
Manabat rose to fame after finishing third runner-up in “Star Circle Kid Quest: Search for the Kiddie Idol” in 2009.
