Sid Lucero and Beauty Gonzalez are set to play driven parents, leading their family of four in the upcoming psychological horror movie “Outside.”
On Thursday, Sept. 19, Netflix Philippines released the film’s official trailer. It will mark the first local zombie feature on the streaming platform.
The story follows a family led by its unstable patriarch, Francis (Lucero), and wife Iris (Gonzalez), who flee to the former’s secluded provincial farmhouse with their sons Josh (Marco Masa) and Lucas (Aiden Tyler Patdu) to escape a zombie outbreak.
The trailer showed that safety is harder to come amid their stay in the house as uncanny events started to happen to the members of the family.
Director Carlo Ledesma underscored that “Outside” is more than just a zombie film, as it is set to explore the traumatic journey of a family caught in a zombie pandemic, haunted by their own personal anguish.
“At its core, it’s a film about a family’s survival,” he emphasized during the Netflix APAC Southeast Asia Showcase.
The director asserted that “Outside” is his “most personal project to date,” drawing inspiration from his experiences growing up in Negros and his own feelings of isolation during the pandemic.
In 2011, Ledesma made his horror debut through the film “The Tunnel,” followed by “Sunod” and the horror-comedy short “The Kapre” in 2019.
“Outside” is also set to feature special participation from Enchong Dee and Joel Torre. It will premiere on the streaming platform on October 17.
