Judy Ann Santos and Lorna Tolentino are set to star in the upcoming horror film “ESPANTAHO,” directed by Chito S. Roño.
Quantum Films took to its social media pages to reveal the star-dubbed cast, accompanied by character art cards.
“Every family has its secrets. Some are more sinister than others,” it wrote in the caption.
Aside from Judy Ann and Tolentino, JC Santos, Chanda Romero, Mon Confiado, Nico Antonio Donna Cariaga, Kian Co and Janice de Belen are part of the cast.
Eugene Domingo and Tommy Abuel will also be featured in special roles.
As of writing, the plot details haven’t been disclosed, but the horror movie will be penned by award-winning writer Chris Martinez.
Roño is known as the director of acclaimed horror films such as “Feng Shui,” “Sukob” and “The Healing,” among others, while Martinez is known for his works in “Shake, Rattle & Roll XIII,” “Kimmy Dora: Ang Kiyemeng Prequel,” “Temptation Island” and more.
The release date of “ESPANTAHO” has not been announced yet , but Judy Ann shared in a previous interview with ABS-CBN that her upcoming horror movie could possibly be part of the 2024 Metro Manila Film Festival, which is set to take place in December.
“I am hoping na matuloy ‘yung movie namin ni direk Chito, ang tagal na naming hindi nakakagawa ng pelikula, ang tagal ko na ring hindi nakakagawa ng horror film and my last movie for MMFF was ‘Mindanao’ and that was five years ago, so hindi ko akalain na it’s the 50th year of Metro Manila Film Festival so it’s very very special and pinagdarasal ko pa rin na sana matuloy kasi it’s nice to be part of that historical event,” she said at the time.
Judy Ann revealed in March that she was also preparing for her comeback on television after five years. The actress is set to play the country’s president in the upcoming series “The Bagman.”
The “Mara Clara” star is also set to lead the Philippine adaptation of “Call My Agent” with the Filipino title “Call My Manager,” which will be directed by Erik Matti.
Judy Ann previously starred in the horror films “Tiyanak,” “Mag-Ingat Ka sa Kulam” and “Ouija.”
Meanwhile, Tolentino is known for the horror film “Patayin sa Sindak si Barbara,” among many others.
