As a homemaker, actress Jennylyn Mercado said she makes sure to give her children equal time and affection when they are at home.
Jennylyn and husband Dennis Trillo take care of three kids—her son Jazz with actor Patrick Garcia, Dennis’ son Calix with Carlene Aguilar, and their daughter Dylan.
“I’m so worked up when I’m at home. I still have a toddler and I’m focused on her. Of course, I also make sure to take care of our boys. It’s just that they’re already teenagers—15 and 16—so they already have different interests. But we make sure that Dennis and I are here for them, guiding them. It’s important for us that none of them feels neglected and jealous of the others,” Jennylyn began.
“Meanwhile, a toddler requires maximum patience. It’s not easy to take care of one. I would always run after her, because she would climb, fall, trip. I guess this is normal for a growing child,” she added.
Jennylyn also values self-care, she said. “As much as possible I make time to work out. This helps me destress. I’m guilty of failing to take care of myself better,” she admitted.
“It’s true that when you’re already a mom, you are also busy as a housewife, other than being a career woman. Juggling all these is hard for us mommies, so self-love and self-care are important. We should not neglect ourselves. We will not be able to take care of our loved ones if we’re not fit or healthy enough to do what we’re supposed to do.”
