As a fan of Korean pop culture, Angeline Quinto couldn’t be more thrilled, after being tapped to record the English version of “Take It All”—the theme song of the BTS-inspired drama series “Begins ≠ Youth.”
“I’m an avid fan of K-dramas. And the series I did a song for was inspired by BTS so I’m very happy, especially my ‘purple heart,’” she told the Inquirer in an interview.
“Begins ≠ Youth” is a coming-of-age story that follows seven boys as they navigate school life and personal and family struggles. It’s based on “The Most Beautiful Life Moment in Life”—a fictional story that BTS has been showcasing through its albums, music videos and other content since 2015.
The theme song “Take It All” was originally performed by South Korean artist Jemma.
For her numerous recordings of original soundtracks (OSTs) for local soap operas, Angeline was dubbed the “Queen of Teleserye Theme Songs.” And given the chance, Angeline said she would love to do more projects for K-dramas.
“I have watched lots of amazing K-dramas. I’m a fan of famous oppas, like Lee Min-ho and Park Seo-joon,” she said. “Seo-joon was in ‘What’s Wrong with Secretary Kim,’ whose Philippine version I was part of [as a cast member and OST singer].”
“I hope I can do more songs for the Korean market in the future,” the 34-year-old singer added.

“Take It All” is Angeline’s first project after signing with Universal Records (UR). What prompted her decision to switch labels after 13 years with Star Music?
“I think it’s just the right timing for the sound I’m trying to look for. I want something new, but, at the same time, something that doesn’t veer too far away from the theme songs I typically sing,” she said.
She’s thankful that her former bosses from her previous label have been nothing but supportive about her career move. “They have given me their full support, which is a big thing for me. They gave me their blessing. And they’re ready to help me and collaborate with UR if needed,” she said.
But for now, Angeline is keeping an open mind about the potential projects that may come her way under her new label, which could include original material composed by Korean songwriters, as well as up-and-coming Filipino talents.
“I fully trust UR and the new opportunities they’re readying for me. This K-drama theme song is just the start,” she said.
