‘Dear SV’ on GMA 7 clinches International Awards Nomination
‘Dear SV’ on GMA 7 gets nominated in the “Best Current Affairs Programme Made in Asia for a Single Market in Asia” category in the ContentAsia Awards 2024.
Hosted by Tutok to Win Party List Representative Sam “SV” Verzosa, the public service program features inspiring stories of ordinary Filipinos who never lose hope and remain resilient despite the struggles and challenges they face everyday.
“Our nomination in the ContentAsia Awards is an affirmation of our mission to help the communities and individuals who hurdle all the hardships to improve and uplift their conditions in life,” beams SV.
The program’s episode about a family living under a bridge has been singled out for Best Current Affairs nomination by this year’s jury, composed of industry peers with hands-on knowledge and experience of the creative and production process. True to its mission, “Dear SV” serves as the guiding light and hope for the individuals and communities across the country through sustainable livelihood, scholarships, employment and financial assistance.
SV, as he is fondly called, is new to TV hosting. That’s why this international nomination ignites him to improve his craft. And hosting a public affairs program comes naturally as he has been exposed to helping communities and individuals.
“It’s overwhelming when peers in the industry recognize our efforts in producing relevant content,” says SV. “What is even more surprising is that we are recognized by our industry peers in the Asia region.”
SV wears several hats: CEO of Frontrow and Luxxe White Corporation, President of Maserati Philippines, Director for Charity of Miss Universe Philippines, Co-founder of Frontrow Cres and Founder of Batang Sampaloc Scholarship Foundation, Inc. SV just had a short stint as co-host of Willie Revillame’s Will to Win on TV5. But what keeps him grounded despite his achievements is his dad’s advice: Never forget to give back.
Following this nomination, SV claims that he would tirelessly help the helpless, keeping the legacy of his late father. Now, he is even more determined to help more and more underprivileged Filipinos who help themselves improve their standards of living.
“Win or lose, these nominations are big achievements for our team,” quips SV. “Seeing ‘Dear SV’ in the list of ContentAsia Awards nominees makes us prouder and more ignited to produce inspiring stories for the Filipinos here and overseas.”
Last year, over 200 people attended and 22 media outlets across Asia covered the awarding ceremony in Bangkok, Thailand.
“Dear SV,” aired every Saturday at 11:30 PM on GMA 7, is one of the best current affairs program nominees competing in the ContentAsia Awards 2024 to be held in Taipei, Taiwan on September 5.
