South Korean actors Kim Soo-hyun and Jo Bo-ah will put their acting chops to the test in the upcoming drama “Knock-Off” which will be set during the 1997 Asian Financial Crisis.

Kim and Jo’s casting was announced in a press statement on a Korean streaming platform. While it’s set to premiere sometime in 2025, details on their co-stars and plot are yet to be announced.

The “Queen of Tears” star will portray the role of Kim Sung-jun, who’s “desperate to rebuild his life” amid the Asian Financial Crisis. He takes on a job related to knock-offs and counterfeit products where he climbs up the ranks.

Jo, on the other hand, will star as a police officer named Song Hye-jung, Sung-jun’s ex-lover, who’s on a mission to crack down on counterfeit goods.

“Knock-Off” will be directed by Park Hyeon-seok, who’s known for his work in the 2023 action drama “Song of the Bandits,” and will follow a “dangerous and crime-ridden”-centered plot.

Kim is known as a top Hallyu star and is recognized as one of the highest-paid actors in South Korea. His recent work, “Queen of Tears,” gained massive popularity in South Korea and other countries, as well as his leading lady Kim Ji-won, who is also a top Hallyu star in her own right.

The actor is also known for his lead roles in the K-dramas “Dream High,” “My Love From Another Star,” “It’s Okay to Not Be Okay,” “The Producers,” and “Moon Embracing the Sun,” to name a few.

Meanwhile, Jo is an award-winning actress in South Korea known for her roles in the series “Forest,” “Tale of the Nine-Tailed,” “Military Prosecutor Doberman,” and “Destined With You.”
