It was an unforgettable night for SB19 and BINI after they received the Voices of Asia award at the Billboard K Power 100 event, with both groups declaring the recognition empowers them to share their music on the global stage.

SB19 and BINI were bestowed with the Voices of Asia award at the Billboard K Power 100 event at the Shilla Hotel in Seoul, South Korea, on Tuesday, Aug. 27. The powerhouse acts were chosen by the local branch of the music publication to celebrate their contributions to the growing P-pop industry.

Before the event started, the P-pop acts — along with popular K-pop artists — graced the red carpet donning their respective ensembles put together by Filipino designers.

The “Gento” hitmakers looked dashing in Ehrran Montoya-crafted suits made of sustainable materials, while the “Pantropiko” singers looked beautiful with ensembles in shades of red, blue, white and black.

SB19 and BINI’s mission

SB19 and BINI then individually took the stage to receive their awards, where they thanked the music publication as well as their fans, loved ones and teams in their acceptance speeches.

For SB19’s Josh, he said the award is dedicated to the “entire P-pop movement” while acknowledging the “Pantropiko” hitmakers who have been “making waves” in the industry.

“This award belongs not just to us, but to the entire P-pop movement, OPM, and of course, to every Filipino [who] shares their creativity across Asia and the world,” he said, per a Billboard Philippines video. “We’d also like to give a shoutout to our fellow Filipino artist who has been here right now: BINI, we are proud of you. We have been making waves right now.”

Meanwhile, the boy group’s leader Pablo said the award empowers them to show the “diversity and richness” of Filipino culture through their music. “As Voices of Asia, we’re so proud to stand alongside our fellow Asian artists, showcasing the diversity and richness of our cultures through our music.”

“This award represents the P-pop community’s mission to bring Filipino artistry to the global stage, starting right here in Asia,” he continued. “Let’s keep working hard to strive for excellence, and let’s create with a heart of service.”

Aiah, speaking for BINI, dedicated the award to those who stood by the girl group’s side throughout their careers.

“On behalf of BINI, it’s ultimately an honor and we are so grateful to receive this award. But this award is not only for us but also for the people [who] believe in us and who have been part of our journey,” she said.

BINI’s leader Jhoanna also said the recognition is an inspiration for them to keep “sharing [their] music” with listeners across the globe, as they thanked SB19 for inspiring them as well. “Being here tonight with so many talented artists [inspires] us to keep pushing boundaries and share our music with the world.”

“This award reminds us that anything is possible with hard work and dedication. To our fellow artists, we admire and respect each and every one of you,” she continued. “To our fellow P-pop group, SB19, thank you so much for inspiring us.”

Both groups also performed their hit tracks at the event, with SB19 doing a stage of “Gento” and BINI singing a medley of “Cherry on Top” and “Pantropiko.”

Also invited to the star-studded event were EXO members Baekhyun, Chen and Xiumin; GOT7’s BamBam; The Boyz; Kep1er; VIVIZ; and STAYC, to name a few. Industry leaders and music executives from South Korea and other countries graced the ceremony as well.
