Murals of movies shown during MMFF to be painted on walls along Edsa

MANILA, Philippines — The walls of Edsa will soon be adorned with murals of some Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) film posters from the past five decades, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) said on Friday.

In a statement, the MMDA said it signed an agreement with iAcademy to create murals that showcase iconic MMFF films as part of the festival’s 50th anniversary celebration this year.

The iAcademy is a private and non-sectarian educational institution based in Makati City.

Under the partnership, iAcademy students will paint murals featuring MMFF film posters along a 653-meter stretch from Buendia Avenue to Ayala Avenue starting September.

“We will make EDSA nostalgic through murals of hand-painted movie posters to celebrate the rich history of MMFF,” said MMDA Acting Chairman Don Artes during the signing ceremony, as quoted in the statement.

Meanwhile, iAcademy Chief Operating Officer Raquel Wong thanked the MMDA and said that the partnership represents their shared commitment and creativity in enhancing public spaces.

“The artworks of our students will showcase not only their skills but the Filipino life, community and creativity,” Wong said.

“We are excited to show that these artworks will inspire and remind everyone of the power of creative collaboration in shaping our urban environment,” she added.
