Rachael Lillis, who voiced the popular characters Misty and Jessie in the English versions of the 1990s “Pokémon” anime television series and movies, died on Saturday, Aug. 10, after succumbing to her battle with breast cancer. She was 55.

Her death was confirmed by her sister, Laurie Orr, through GoFundMe, a fundraiser created in May to raise money for the voice actress’ medical bills.

“With a heavy heart, I regret to say that Rachael has passed away. She passed peacefully Saturday night, without pain, and for that we are grateful,” wrote Orr in an update on Aug. 12.

“She is with God, the angels, and the family that has passed before her, surrounded by infinite love,” added the sister. “We ask for peace, for now, as her family grieves this loss.”

Orr shared that Lillis was “moved” by the response the fundraiser received from supporters and friends.

“She likened the response to this fund to the movie ‘It’s a Wonderful Life,’ when George is surprised to learn just how much he is loved by his friends and how much they do care! She was moved to tears when seeing the GFM page with your comments and kind thoughts,” continued the sister.

Meanwhile, Lillis’ “Pokémon” co-star Veronica Taylor, who voiced protagonist Ash Ketchum, paid tribute to her late castmate on social media.

“Rachael was an extraordinary talent, a bright light that shone through her voice whether speaking or singing. She will forever be remembered for the many animated roles she played,” Taylor wrote on X (formerly Twitter).

“I am not sure how this very dark void will be filled now that her light no longer shines in it. Like the shooting stars in the Perseids, Rachael was a magnificent wonder and truly special. She burned bright and vanished too soon. She will live on in our memories for eternity,” she added.

Aside from Misty and Jessie, Lillis also voiced “Pokémon” creature Jigglypuff, whose fairy song voice put listeners to sleep. Outside of “Pokémon,” the late voice actress also lends her talent to roles in “Your Lie in April,” “Hunter x Hunter” and “Winx Club,” among others.
