Seventeen’s dedicated legion of fans — also known as Carats — won’t be able to see the K-pop group as a 13-member unit in the second half of 2024, as Jeonghan and Jun will be absent from their upcoming world tour and other activities.

In a statement on Weverse on Monday, August 12, Pledis Entertainment announced that Jeonghan will begin his military service while Jun will take on acting opportunities in China in the second half of the year.

Both Seventeen members will be absent from the group’s “Seventeen Right Here World Tour” which will kick off in October 2024. Aside from South Korea, stops in Japan, the United States, and Asia are included.

“We would like to provide information regarding Seventeen’s Jeonghan and Jun’s activities in the second half of 2024,” the agency began.

Aside from the tour, Jeonghan won’t be able to participate in promotional activities for Seventeen’s upcoming 12th mini-album. However, he was able to “film most of the content he could in advance.”

“Jeonghan will still be able to meet with Carats through the previously announced fan signing event and Lollapalooza Berlin. Further details regarding Jeonghan’s military service will be provided later in a separate notice,” Pledis said.

All able-bodied South Korean men beginning at the age of 18 are required to fulfill their mandatory military service. Depending on their condition, their enlistment lasts between 18 to 21 months.

Jun, on the other hand, will pursue “acting and other opportunities” in his home country in China. This would lead to his absence from the tour, music show appearances for the 12th mini-album, and Lollapalooza in Berlin, Germany this coming September.

“After thorough discussions with Jun and the other members of Seventeen, we have decided that Jun will pursue acting and other opportunities in China during the latter half of this year,” said Pledis.

“Like Jeonghan, Jun has completed filming for content that could be prepared in advance. However, due to an overlap with the on-location filming schedule, Jun will not be able to participate in Lollapalooza Berlin, music show performances for the 12th mini-album, and the Seventeen ‘Right Here’ World Tour,” the agency added.

Despite this, the music label said Jun is “determined” to join in Seventeen’s other activities.

“Jun is determined to participate in Seventeen’s group activities, and though he is unable to take part in the world tour, Jun will participate as much as he can in schedules that engage with Carats,” said Pledis.

Following the announcement, Pledis requested the fans’ “kind understanding and support.”

“We ask for your kind understanding and support for Jeonghan’s healthy completion of his military service and Jun’s upcoming projects. Please continue to show your love for Seventeen and stay tuned for Seventeen’s upcoming activities this year. Thank you,” it said.

Jeonghan and Jun debuted as members of Seventeen in May 2015.

Jeonghan is known as the lead vocalist and visual of the group. He is also part of Seventeen’s Vocal Team. He is also part of the Jeonghan x Wonwoo unit with his bandmate Wonwoo, where they released the single album “This Man.”

Jun is the group’s lead dancer and vocalist, and a member of the group’s Performance Team with Hoshi, The8, and Dino. He started his entertainment career as a child actor in China.
