Singer-actor Darren Espanto faced a turn of events after he was rushed to the hospital due to appendicitis, and had to undergo an operation.
The “It’s Showtime” host took to social media to give his fans an update on his condition. He shared a video of him lying in a hospital bed, describing what happened as a “plot twist.”
“From the airport to the hospital. Sabi sa inyo, grabeng plot twist nangyari sa akin eh (What happened to me was a plot twist). Appendicitis suddenly hit during my flight back to Manila. Was supposed to be back on ‘Showtime’ today, but emergencies happen talaga. Shoutout to my family and friends who have prayed for me!” he wrote.
In a separate video, Espanto shared that he was on his way to the operating room, and asked for prayers.
“Brb. Getting my appendix removed. Talk to y’all later! And pray for me, please!” he wrote on X.
Following his current state, Espanto had to cancel his upcoming shows, including a performance at the Tandaya Festival 2024 Samar Day on Sunday, Aug. 11.
“To the producers of the shows I was supposed to be part of in the next few days, I am so sad to have to cancel at the last minute. I hope to work with y’all soon, pa rin po! Thank you for your understanding!” added the singer.
Meanwhile, Espanto was recently in California for the “ASAP Natin ‘To” reunion concert alongside other Kapamilya artists including P-pop powerhouse BINI and OPM artists Gary Valenciano, Martin Nievera, Regine Velasquez, Ogie Alcasid, Zsa Zsa Padilla, Yeng Constantino, KZ Tandingan and Erik Santos.
